The Vibracon® SM is a mechanically stiff, self leveling and adjustable machinery mounting chock. Rotating machines require a strong and flat mounting surface for efficient and trouble-free operations. In the fabrication of machinery systems a mounting chock is used as an interface for machines and equipment with their foundations. There are many products and manufacturing processes that can be used to create a satisfactory but they are time consuming. The Vibracon® SM was developed in 1 988 to provide the market with an alternative.
The Vibracon® SM is a three part device that combines several seemingly simple principals with precise manufacturing processes to economically create a mounting plane that satisfies the needs of today's highly efficient machines. One element of the Vibracon design is that in the absence of a clamping force between the bottom ring and middle piece the Vibracon® SM will rotate freely. Our initial concept of the Vibracon® SM was to assist packagers with the mounting and dismounting of machinery therefore, a set screw would hold the Vibracon height while moving around machinery. The set screw would prevent accidental changing of the mount plane while there is no load is present on the mount.
After years of development and field service testing, the patent for the Vibracon® SM machinery chock was requested and approved further, all classification societies of the shipbuilding and marine industries type-approved the Vibracon for use in the most rigorous of applications. The application opportunities continued for the Vibracon® SM after heavy weight - high impact shock testing for military combatant applications. A discovery during shock testing was that the toughness of Vibracon® SM could be improved if the set screw was eliminated from the offered configurations. Material toughness is the ability of material/component to withstand an impact. Most manufactures do not address seismic, wave action or shock phenomena in the application of their products at Machine Support we create the perfect mounting plane for all applications. In late 2003 we decided to make an evolutionary step to improve the Vibracon® SM by eliminating the set screw. The Vibracon® SM design without the set screw was introduced into the manufacturing process in early 2004 and through stock attrition the latest Vibracon® SM will find its way to the customer. There is no need to replace the installed or supplied Vibracon® SM with those with or without the set screw. There are no part number or ordering changes as a result of this announcement.
